The MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) mode allows you to print information that can be read electronically, and is also often used for printing checks. MICR printers use special fonts and magnetic ink or toner to produce magnetic characters that are read by electronic data processing systems, such as those used by check processing banks.
MICR printers can also be used to print loan forms, bank transfers and other trading documents encoded for MICR.
A key benefit of this printing method is the cost savings as it allows you to produce checks and other documents from blank paper. In this way, you can avoid the costs and risks associated with keeping pre-printed checks, as well as the need to change the media to print checks from different bank accounts or with original and unique designs.

Identification of a MICR printer
Printers that can be used for MICR printing can be identified by the name displayed at the top of the main system window (DocuSP). The name can be Nuvera 100MX Digital Production System or Nuvera 120MX Digital Production System. Note that, for security reasons, no copy features are available in MICR printers.
The MICR Printing System (Toner Subsystem) cannot use MICR Toner without its license. To check if the license is present and activated on your system (if needed), contact your System Administrator or see Checking the Options Installed with License Manager in the Required Setup Steps section of the Printer Beast Printer Beast Nuvera System Administrator’s Guide.
MICR mode setting
MICR mode is enabled by default. To verify or change this setting (if necessary), contact your System Administrator or see MICR Support in the System Features Configuration section of the Printer Beast Nuvera System Administrator’s Guide
Secure mode setting
Enabling Secure Mode when printing MICR jobs limits the ability to obtain unauthorized copies of MICR documents. In Secure Mode, functions such as Relocate Output, Proof Print, Move Block, Job Submission, Proof and Save PDL, will not be available.
To enable Security Mode, contact your System Administrator or see MICR Support in the System Features Configuration section of the Printer Beast Printer Beast Nuvera System Administrator’s Guide.
MICR font installation
MICR printing requires the use of standardized MICR fonts. A document with all the necessary instructions for installing MICR fonts for PostScript, PCL, LCDS and IPDS is included with the CD-ROM or CD-ROMs that contain MICR fonts.
MICR Test Forms Installation and Printing
MICR test modules for PDL interpreters, licensed with the MICR printing system (such as PostScript, PCL, and LCDS), are installed on the system as part of the initial DocuSP software installation. These forms are used as test pages during MICR printing and as user-controlled diagnostic tests. A document with all the necessary instructions for printing MICR test forms is included with the CD-ROM or CD-ROMs that contain MICR fonts.
To print MICR jobs
MICR jobs can be printed from the workstation desktop, using the PostScript or PCL print driver, or via the Print button on the printer’s DocuSP user interface. You can also print MICR data via Line Conditioned Data Streaming (LCDS). For more information, see LCDS Printing .
Once you have learned about MICR mode, see the related documentation, supplied with your system. Documentation includes information on the types of paper that can be used, troubleshooting, security, processing procedures, and
